(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars conclude a four-game homestand this evening when the St. Louis Blues invade the American Airlines Center.
Dallas has won two of three so far on the homestand and is off to a flying 9-2 start to the 2006-07 season. The Stars maintained their early success on Saturday by defeating Los Angeles by a 3-2 margin.
Jeff Halpern scored the tie-breaking goal with just 3:44 left to play and rookie netminder Mike Smith stopped 32 shots, including 15 in the second period.
Philippe Boucher and Stu Barnes also scored while Matthew Barnaby had two assists for the Stars, who have won four of five.
Dallas, which will start up a four-game road trip Friday at Edmonton, is 4-1 at American Airlines Center in the early going.
The Blues, meanwhile, have dropped four of their last five and are coming off a wild shootout loss to Anaheim on Monday. Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf scored during the deciding phase and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped both shots he faced in the shootout to give the Ducks a 6-5 win at Scottrade Center.
Keith Tkachuk recorded a goal and two assists while Lee Stempniak scored once and helped out on another for St. Louis, which battled back twice from two- goal deficits to force overtime. However, both Tkachuk and Stempniak were stoned by Giguere in the shootout.
