Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Nick Boynton is expected to miss at least two weeks of action thanks to a broken foot, according to the Arizona Republic.

Boynton did not take part in practice Monday. Instead, he had X-rays taken that revealed a fractured bone in his foot.

The report noted that Boynton will not undergo surgery.

The Coyotes have not made a roster move to fill Boynton's spot, but coach Wayne Gretzky told the Republic he was leaning toward recalling defenceman Travis Roche from San Antonio (AHL).

Boynton had two assists in 20 games with Phoenix this season. He has been bothered by the foot problem since first injuring it on November 9 against Dallas. The injury caused him to miss three of the Coyotes' last eight games.
