(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes will try to get back in the win column tonight when they welcome the San Jose Sharks to Arena.

The Coyotes had won seven straight contests before getting slammed by visiting Detroit on Thursday. Tomas Holmstrom tallied his second career hat trick and assisted on another goal as the Red Wings cooled off Phoenix with a 5-1 rout.

Yanic Perreault scored the Coyotes' lone goal, while Mikael Tellqvist stopped 40-of-45 shots.

The Coyotes' win streak was their longest since taking eight in a row during the 1999-2000 season.

Phoenix is playing the middle test of a three-game homestand tonight. The Coyotes, who are 11-9-1 in Glendale this year, will wrap up the residency Monday afternoon against St. Louis.

The Sharks are coming off their fourth victory in five games on Thursday night, as they breezed to a win in Los Angeles. Patrick Marleau became the all-time goal-scoring leader in Sharks history as San Jose downed the Kings, 5-2, at Staples Center.

Marleau's goal near the end of the second period was the 207th of his career and moved him past current Coyote Owen Nolan for the top spot on the franchise list.

Mark Bell, Milan Michalek and Ryane Clowe also scored for San Jose, while Vesa Toskala made 22 saves in the win.
