PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce they have become a Bronze level sponsor for the RBC Royal Bank Cup slated for May of 2007. The Cougars, as Bronze level sponsors, will do the cheque presentation to the Host Committee prior to their December 16th game vs. Kamloops. Excess funds raised by the Host Committee for the RBC Royal Bank Cup will be going to a Legacy Fund within the Community Foundation.

"We've been working extremely hard for months to put the national championship together and to have the Cougars become a Bronze level sponsor is outstanding," says Tournament Co-Chair Dan Rogers. "They obviously realize how significant this Hockey Canada event is and the Cougars participation will go a long way in helping us make this the best ever RBC Royal Bank Cup", finishes Rogers.

"The Cougars have a long history of supporting local sporting events, and this is no exception. We are excited to partner up with the Tournament Host Committee to ensure a successful RBC Royal Bank Cup. We hope to help raise enough money for the Legacy Fund which will benefit all citizens of Prince George for years to come", states Cougars Business Manager Brandi Brodsky.

The 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup is scheduled for May 5-13 at CN Centre in Prince George with five teams competing for the national championship. The National Junior A Championship was introduced in 1971 and until 1995 was known as the Centennial Cup. Since 1996, it has become known as the RBC Royal Bank Cup. 2007 will mark only the third time in the event's history that BC has hosted the RBC Royal Bank Cup.

The Prince George Host Committee is committed to ensuring the 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup is the best ever. In addition to the thrilling on-ice action that will take place over the eight-day event, the Host Committee has planned a variety of activities to keep the players, fans, volunteers and sponsors involved in the excitement of the tournament. The event consists of ten round robin, two semi-finals and the Championship Game that will be televised across the nation by TSN.
