COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets traded forward Eric Boguniecki to the New York Islanders on Wednesday for defenseman Ryan Caldwell.

Caldwell was assigned to Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

The 31-year-old Boguniecki has played in 167 NHL games with Florida, St. Louis and Pittsburgh, totaling 34 goals and 42 assists. The Blue Jackets signed Boguniecki as a free agent Aug. 22. In eight games with Syracuse this season, he was scoreless with eight penalty minutes.
