Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired forwards Zenon Konopka and Curtis Glencross from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forwards Joe Motzko and Mark Hartigan on Friday.
As part of the deal, Columbus receives a conditional seventh round draft pick in either 2007 or 2008, and provides Anaheim a fourth-round pick in 2007.
"Zenon Konopka and Curtis Glencross are two young guys who have a chance to develop into solid NHL players," said Blue Jackets president and general manager Doug MacLean. "Konopka in particular is a hard-working, character player who we think has a real good upside."
Konopka had four goals and seven points in 23 games last season with the Ducks. He has picked up 11 goals, 35 points and 97 penalty minutes with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League this year.
Glencross made his NHL debut this year with the Ducks, collecting one goal in two games. The Saskatchewan native played collegiately at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
