Juliano Pagliero of Dalroy, Alta., Niagara's sophomore goalie, was named defensive player of the week after two wins over Wayne State. Pagliero made 41 saves for his first career shutout in a 4-0 win and he blocked 28 shots in a 4-2 Purple Eagles victory.

Junior forward Matt Caruana of Orono, Ont., had two assists in the first win, while sophomore forward Les Reaney of Ceylon, Sask., had two assists in the second game.

Bemidji State swept in-state rival Minnesota-Duluth last weekend. Rob Sirianni of Edmonton, a senior forward for the Beavers, scored twice in a 5-2 win, while junior forward Blain Jarvis of Gladstone, Man., helped Bemidji State erase a 5-2 deficit by scoring twice, including the winner in overtime, for a 6-5 victory.

Four Alabama-Huntsville players had a multiple-point night in a 4-3 win over Robert Morris. Senior forwards Grant Selinger of Regina and David Nimmo of St. Albert, Alta., had a goal and an assist each, while sophomore defenceman Scott Kalinchuk of Bozeman, Man., and senior forward Brett McConnachie of Ajax, Ont., picked up two assists each.
