Lightning coach John Tortorella said a judgment call he made last season was, in a sense, partly responsible for some of the team's inconsistencies, and he is determined not to make the same mistake.
He said that is why he was so critical of the team's intensity in the season's first two games and the lack of offense, especially from the top two lines .
"We have to correct the mind-set right now," Tortorella said as the team prepared for Monday's game. "It can't wait for five, 10, 15 games because then you get into that crawling out of the hole-type attitude.
"I'm not going to let it fall like I did last year."
It was a year of ups and downs.
