Well V and Gillis must be in agreement on a few things. Makes me wonder what V will have to work with next fall.....should be fun to keep tabs on.

I don't like this. Somehow I see the Sedins sticking here as first liners, because Vigneault doesn't have a good track record with veterans under his control.

I have a feeling we're going to see much of what we saw last year next year. The difference is going to be how much better Roberto Luongo will play to get us into the playoffs or the second round.

I think it will be fine. I like the decisions. I think we're going to see our team with a few injections of talent that will benefit the kids like Mason Raymond. I am expecting him to play a bigger role as the year moves on.

I like V, the only other coach I saw as a significant upgrade was Burns. Like I said, obviously V and Gillis are on the same page and I like the message the extension sends to the ship mates......It's a confidence move.

Something doesn't seem right to me.:dunno:

Ya replace the GM keep the coach , and relieve the assistant coaches of their duties.Something smells fishy to me.

I have a feeling that coach V somehow sold out his assistance to save his own ass, and that his new one year exstension is not to be mistaken as security but rather a short leash.

IMHO he has the first 20 - 25 games to re prove himself or be gone. The lenght of his contract is not such that if he is cut lose that the canucks will be paying him long term.

What's happened is following in line with exactly what Gillis said when he took over. He thought the goaltending and the team's defensive play were fine, so Vigneault, Bowness and Clark are staying. Smith and Kelly, who ran the offense and the powerplay, are gone.

But I agree with Lossy to an extent. Vigneault has to make some adjustments to how he coaches to the vets on the team if he wants to stay on for another two seasons.

Another point that does make me a little wary, though, is the amount of quality coaches that are available right now. If the team struggles next season and Gillis decides to fire Vigneault in January, most of these coaches will already be employed.

See to me that at the end of the day falls back to the guy with the title of HEAD coach. The guy in charge and with the final decissions on what is and isn't working.

Theres no denying coack V and his defensive system , however there is lots of room to question his offensive system or lack there of.

He at the end of the day puts the line combinations together and impliments who is and isn;t on the PP and PK.

To me at the end of the day a defense first system gives you a better chance of winning and covers up what one is lacking when it comes to offensive creativity .

However both are needed to win and coach V imho doesn't have the offensive mind to achieve this.
