Much of the equipment, shoulder pads, elbow pads, etc. can be cleaned with gentle laundry detergent. However, I would be very careful as to what you use to clean your gloves. The palm can get very dried out and get stiff and even crack. I use commercial sports equipment cleaner and never put them in the wash. Also, after games I will sometimes spray disinfectant spray into the gloves to kill the bacteria and allow them to dry in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Good luck!
A great way to clean your skates is with shaving cream. Spray some in the skate, and put some on your feat and put your skates on. The cream absorbs into the boot and kills germs, and 'helps' with the smell.
