TORONTO (CP) - Chris Chappell scored twice and added an assist as the Saginaw Spirit trounced the Toronto-St. Michael's Majors 8-3 Thursday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Ryan McDonough and Patrick McNeill each added a pair of goals while Tom Pyatt and Tom Craig added singles for the Spirit (13-5-0-1), who were in control from the opening face-off. Saginaw led 3-1 after 20 minutes and 6-1 after two periods.
McDonough, a Toronto native, scored a power-play goal 11:49 into the first period, the first of eight straight Saginaw goals that obliterated an early 1-0 deficit. His second goal, coming with 24 seconds left in the second period, made it 6-1.
"It's my home town but I've never scored here," said McDonough. "It was nice to get that off my chest."
