Junior forward Mike Lesperance of Newmarket scored the winning goal in Western Michigan's 3-2 victory over No. 3 Michigan State last Sunday.

Mark Letestu of Elk Point, Alta., a freshman forward with the Broncos, scored his first career goal and assisted on the winning goal. On Friday, Tim Crowder of Victoria, a sophomore forward at Michigan State, had his third career two-goal game in a 4-1 Spartans victory to open the home-and-home series.

Chad Johnson of Calgary, a Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick, made 19 saves for his first college shutout as Alaska opened with a 3-0 win over Air Force.

Dion Knelsen of Three Hills, Alta., who at 17 is the youngest player in the CCHA, followed up the next night with the first two goals and first three assists of his career in an 8-4 win by the Nanooks over the Falcons. Junior defenceman Darcy Campbell of Aidrie, Alta., had two assists in each game.
