TORONTO (CP) - Jason Cassidy scored a hat trick as the Toronto-St. Michael's Majors beat the Peterborough Petes 6-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.

The win was the Majors' second in 18 games.

Cassidy scored three times in the first 35 minutes. In all three cases, he drove to the net and was rewarded with either a quick pass or rebound that he was able to fire past goalie Trevor Cann.

The game opened with a thundering collision that sent the Majors' leading scorer, Matt Caria, to hospital.

Toronto was on the attack when Caria collided with a teammate, his head hitting the ice. He was carried off on a stretcher and according to a team official was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. The incident delayed the game almost 10 minutes.
