(Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals continue their four-game road trip this evening when they battle the Florida Panthers at BankAtlantic Center.
The Capitals began their swing Thursday in Tampa Bay and were handed a setback by the Lightning. Vincent Lecavalier scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lift the Bolts to the 5-4 win at St. Pete Times Forum.
Alexander Semin scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season and Alexander Ovechkin donated two assists for Washington, which had a three-game winning streak halted. Olaf Kolzig allowed five goals on 25 shots.
Ovechkin has registered a point in five straight games and has notched three goals and eight assists during that span.
The Capitals are 8-8-4 as the visitor this season.
The Panthers are coming off a loss, having dropped a 6-4 decision in Carolina on Thursday. Chad LaRose, Erik Cole and Scott Walker each posted a goal and an assist to lead the Hurricanes, who struck six times in the third period to pull out the comeback win.
Olli Jokinen scored twice and Stephen Weiss had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, who have dropped four of five contests to kick off the new calendar year.
