(Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals have showed hints of solid play this season, but the past two weeks hadn't been one of those times.

Entering Tuesday's game in Tampa Bay, the Caps had lost six consecutive games after a solid 4-1 stretch.

Well, against the Lightning, Washington posted a 5-2 win, as Olaf Kolzig tied a season-high with 48 saves to anchor the effort.

Alexander Semin and Alexander Ovechkin each tallied a goal and an assist for the Caps, who were 0-4-2 during their losing streak,

Matt Pettinger added two assists in the victory.

Semin returned to the lineup after missing four games with a shoulder injury. He ranks third on the team with nine goals and 10 assists and is tied for second with 19 points.

Ovechkin, meanwhile, netted his team-high 16th goal of the season and is tops with 27 points -- eight more than Semin and Dainius Zubrus in the club scoring race.
