Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals announced on Wednesday they have signed defensemen Jamie Heward and Bryan Muir to one-year contract extensions.
In 50 games so far this season, Heward has recorded six goals and 17 assists for 23 points. A former first-round choice of Pittsburgh in 1989, Heward has tallied 31 goals and 62 assists for 93 points in 289 career games with Washington, Columbus, the New York Islanders, Nashville and Toronto.
Muir has also appeared in 50 games this season and has tallied four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. In 231 career contests with Washington, Los Angeles, Colorado, Tampa Bay, Chicago, New Jersey and Edmonton, the 6-foor-3, 224-pound blue liner has registered nine goals, 27 assists and 221 penalty minutes.
