The NHL's hard cap is a bit softer today, and the Devils are whole again.

Enhancing his reputation as Loophole Louie, Devils GM Lou Lamoriello yesterday was granted precedent-setting Long-Term Injury cap relief on the $3.5 million salary of likely retiree Alexander Mogilny. Combined with Sunday's shedding of $3.6 million of cap liability on Vladimir Malakhov, Lamoriello went straight to work on signing up his patient returnees.

I have no idea how Lou pulls this stuff off, the guy must be backed by some of his Jersey "Friends".
