(Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks came into this season with high expectations, but, so far, the team hasn't been able to get on track.

Vancouver is just 12-13-1 on the year and has yet to win more than three games in a row. However, the Canucks come into Friday still very much in the race for the top spot in the extremely competitive Northwest Division.

With 25 points, Vancouver is currently fourth in the Northwest and just three behind first-place Edmonton. Only four points separate the Oilers and the last-place Flames.

The Canucks ended a two-game slide with Tuesday's win over Columbus, but were then handed a 2-1 loss by the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. Roberto Luongo allowed two goals on 30 shots in the losing effort, but it was his critical mistake that led to the game-winning goal.

With the contest tied 1-1 in the third period, Luongo attempted to clear the puck but ended up sailing it over the glass for a two-minute delay of game minor. The Ducks scored the game-winning goal on the ensuing power play.
