MONTREAL (CP) - The Montreal Canadiens marked their 97th anniversary Monday evening by paying tribute to what is probably the team's most heated rivalry.
The Canadiens held a ceremony before their game against the Boston Bruins to honour the 82-year rivalry between the two clubs.
A video showing highlights of the teams' most heated contests was shown before former Canadiens Elmer Lach, Emile Bouchard, Jean Beliveau, Pierre Bouchard, Guy Lafleur, Yvon Lambert and Chris Nilan and former Bruins Milt Schmidt, Johnny Bucyk, Gerry Cheevers, Wayne Cashman, Carol Vadnais, Rick Middleton and Ray Bourque were individually introduced to the crowd.
Bourque and Beliveau, the longest-serving captains in Bruins and Canadiens history, dropped the ceremonial opening faceoff.
