The news on Aaron Downy's condition is good.

The Montreal Canadiens forward is feeling much better and is not experiencing any after-effects of a severe concussion suffered earlier this week.

He spent a night in hospital, but says he is fine and that he has not experienced the headaches or nausea that are common after concussions. He is to go for further tests Saturday, but expects to be back in action soon.

Downey was injured in the first period of Montreal's game against the Calgary Flames Tuesday. He was crossing the red line with his head down when Flames defenceman Robyn Regehr dropped him with a thundering shoulder check. He lay motionless on the ice for a minute, but later was able to get up and looked wobbly as he was helped off the ice.

"He came all the way over from the other side of the ice," said Downey. "Why he didn't get a charging penalty, I don't know.
