I wouldn't say that, Russia totally chocked but America had a really good team. and you could Say Canada was there cause Russia chocked not USA.
Canada was there because they dominated the Russians. THe USA was there becaused they were the best team from the beginning or the tourney.

Ah! it was a good game. At least Usa won a silver medal. Both teams play hard. Well were at least done with Olympic hockey talk. Tomorrow we go back to regular NHL talk.

Well I think the Iowa Corn Holers have a good chance of making the playoffs. ;)

no your wrong Canada had the best team on paper and Russia was 2nd and USA wasn,t even a favorite! and also it wasn,t the American team it was Miller!
Anyone who knew Hockey knew that the USA was a serious threat.

Sure Canada had the best Roster, but after the first meeting with Canada it was clear the USA had the best TEAM. They played like it. Unfortunatly for the USA the Best Roster became a a better team in the past week and were just barely good enough to beat them.

Congrats to you Canada. Great game and great tournament.
Looking back, getting beat by the USA last Sunday was the best thing that could have happened. They got the lines and roles straightened out in the Germany game. The rest is history.

I agree, indeed what you have said is true. Without that extra game,I don't think Canada could have taken extra risks to experiment a few combinations of possible lines.

I totally agree...i am an american and everyone thought that game would help us, well no i dont think so because canada didnt expect the us to even be a challenge at all and after we beat them...it lit the fire i think, they completely figured us out. I wanted america to win because i was born here but i love canada and canadian hockey so im not that upset.....im glad they got it over some other country,

I think every post I mentioned Miller in I had him as one of the best in the Tournament. He is a game stealer.

Just the other night in a different thread i had him as my 2b as a coin toss with Hiller, slightly behind Halak.

You look at the USA team and tell me where their NHL players are so far behind Canada's that they couldn't atleast limit the scoring opportunities?

Parise, Kane, Ryan etc. THis is a good team. They will be even more dangerous in 2014. But you know what so will other teams.

Russia has the same amazing talent up front, but in 2014 they are fully entrenched in their prime. Canada iced a team that for the most part will under 30 in 2014. Add in Myers(lol sf101)Phaneuf, Bouwmeester, Stamkos, Tavares, Duchesne and who ever else is ready.

Hockey is right now the best it has ever been, and the future looks even brighter.

Here you go Sport, my predictions from before the Olympics.

Semi Finals:
Canada
v. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Canada 4-3 OT
Russia

Slovakia
v. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Slovakia 5-2
USA

Finals

Canada
v. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Canada 4-1
Slovakia

Gold: Canada - Total Homer Pick. Can't Cheer against the boys and I gotta believe.
Silver: Slovakia - Miracle Run, Halak Tourney MVP, overwhelmed by Canada in the Finals.
Bronze: Russia - Def. USA, score 5-4

3/4 teams right and Russia could have been there if the seedings had lined up right.

I had the USA getting barely beat by the #2 ranked team in the tourny. Did I really underestimate them?

Congrats to Canada on a great Olympics. That was one heck of a gold medal game, and if I had to have one guy score to beat the US, I'm glad it was Sid. The American team played so hard throughout the tourney, and after Parise came up clutch yet again to tie the game, I was almost sure they were going to pull it off. In the end Canada's talent prevailed, and my hat's off to them.

For bragging rights I had Canada over Russia and USA over Finland for my final games.
