OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators announced today the signing of 19-year-old defenceman Tomas Kudelka to a three-year entry-level contract.

Kudelka, the Senators’ fifth pick in the 2005 NHL draft, is currently playing with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He participated in the Senators training camp and was returned to the Hurricanes on Sept. 26. Kudelka had three assists and six penalty minutes in three pre-season games with Ottawa.

Born in Gottwaldov, Czech Republic, he played in 64 games with the Hurricanes last season, recording six goals, 25 assists and 77 penalty minutes. Following the season, he played five games for the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators and collected four penalty minutes.

Kudelka played for the Czech Republic in the world junior championship in each of the last two seasons, scoring five points in 13 games.
