Right on. :bt

I've been hearing his name alot this year, and although I've never seen him play, scouts seem to think very highly of this kid.

I know some poeple will complain about the contract, but this is a risk I'm willing to take. If he's not ready, send him to the Moose, if he is, he could turn out to be a steal for 2 mil.

Let's just hope Nonis doesn't stop there.

And this is why we shouldn't get our nickers in too big a knot....the deal ain't done. We might as well be debating the merits of signing just about anyone at this point.

I sure would like more info on this speculation on Nonis....if anyone has it, please add it to the mix.

RB
So nothing really against Naslund? I know that the Wings have some interest in him, but Wings fans often reject the idea, thinking he's washed up. I always thought he was a player who would fit in great on our team. The only problem is trying to fit him under the cap along with Rafi, Lids, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg.
And although it is off-topic in this thread, I'm going to use this part of the discussion to underline something that should be front and centre in the minds of those of us that are pondering Nonis' return as GM.

Jovanovski, Ruutu, Naslund and Morrison represent a group of huge assets to any organization.

Jovo was part of the Bure deal, Ruutu was a third round pick, Naslund was traded for a former 1st round pick and Morrison was part of the Mogilny deal, who was netted for Peca, who was also a first round pick.

So the Canucks gave up Bure, two first round picks and a third round pick to get those players, and now Nonis has potentially allowed all four of them to walk from this club for nothing in return.

The damage this does to an organization is almost unquantifiable. Consider the direction the Canucks and Senators are going in as opposed to teams like Philadelphia and St. Louis. Both the Sens and Canucks have allowed players like Chara and Jovo to sign elsewhere as UFAs, while the Flyers and Blues have rented out their aging and ailing star players for prospects and picks. When you talk about improving the 'reserve list' or prospects of a club, moving your veteren players that no longer fit is essential to that process.

This alone should be reason enough to put Dave Nonis' job in jeapordy, never mind the fact that his team has now missed the playoffs twice in the four years he has been in charge of it, or the fact that he hasn't been able to draft an impact player in the first round.

The fact that a player of Naslund's calibre is being allowed to walk from this team for nothing, even at 35 years old, is inexcusable and a HUGE mistake that could set this team back for a decade.

Well... Nonis was just fired, so apparently the organization agrees with you.

Hey Francesco, I'm available for the position. And I'll do it for a quarter of a what you were paying Nonis.

Just leave your phone number with Amoroq and I'll get back to you.

One condition though. I want Daryl Shilling as my assistant GM.
Do you think an all Swedish line of the Sedins with Brunnstrom is a line that is going to lead us to the Stanley Cup?

Even if he steps in and becomes another Alfredsson, look at the underachieving the Sens have so grandly displayed during Alfredsson's tenure.

Teams built around Euros don't win Stanley Cups. Period.
This is what I've been harping about when Spazzlund was given the 'C'. Looks like most Swedes come to Vancouver for Ikea and an early NHL exit to return to the motherland and play for the all important ABBA cup which of course in Sweden is far more important than the bed pan that's play for in the NHL. Canadian kids know the importance of winning a Stanley Cup and that's why you see them grind it out in the playoffs. Euros play well during regular season but when it comes to the real dance, they seem to disappear.
I dont know but i think that Brunnstrom would be good to try and add to the team. I heard that he is another Marian Gaborik. I Dont know if its true and i dont know if its a good thing because Gaborik hasnt gotten a point in the post season so far but he would be a good grab for the actual season to try and add some more scoring. And if they do get to the post season he could produice.
Well, Pierre Maguire says the guy is crap, so obviously we have the Swedish Gretzky on our hands...I'm changing my opinion. Sign him.

Did he really?

I thought everybody was a MONSTER in his eyes. lol

I believe Brunnstrom is being over-hyped right now, and his stats arent as impressive as everyone thought they would be. He could turn into a good NHL player but I dont really know if hes worth the money and the line-up spot on the Canucks.
i just heard that because they fired nonis that brunnstrom wont go to the canucks. They should have waited and signed brunnstrom then fired nonis.

Sounds to me like Aquilini went to Sweden on a litttle scouting trip of his own, decided Nonis was out of his mind and canned his ass before he could do any more damage to this team.

I'm glad he's not going to sign here. Maybe he tears up the NHL, but I doubt it. Either way, the last thing this team needs right now is to start committing more of their cap space to reclamation projects.
