(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers seek to avoid a fifth consecutive loss when the Southeast Division cellar-dwellers visit the Boston Bruins tonight at TD Banknorth Garden.

Florida fell for the 10th time in 12 games on Thursday, as Buffalo's Maxim Afinogenov scored on the power play early in the third period to lift the Sabres to a 2-1 victory over the Panthers at HSBC Arena.

Buffalo won despite being outshot 33-16 by Florida, as goaltender Ryan Miller came through with an excellent performance. The young netminder allowed just a second-period tally by Jozef Stumpel to help deal the Panthers their fourth defeat in a row.

Florida will play the second of three straight road contests tonight, with the Panthers finishing up the trip Tuesday in Toronto. The club is a brutal 3-10-5 away from home on the year.

The Panthers have won both of their meetings with Boston this season, however, including a 3-2 triumph in Beantown on November 20. Florida has taken four straight and six of the last games in the series.
