(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres will try to halt their longest losing streak of the season tonight, when they welcome the Boston Bruins to HSBC Arena for the finale of a home-and-home series.

The Sabres, who lead the Eastern Conference with 66 points, have dropped three straight games, including the opener of this series Monday afternoon in Boston.

The Bruins' Marco Sturm notched the lone goal in the shootout and Tim Thomas stopped all three Buffalo chances during the deciding phase to lead Boston past Buffalo, 3-2, at TD Banknorth Garden.

Marc Savard and P.J. Axelsson tallied in regulation for the Bruins, who snapped a three-game skid. Thomas made 34 stops in all, earning his 19th win of the year.

Savard is having an excellent season for Boston and leads the team in assists (40) and points (57). He has notched a goal in three straight games and has five points (three goals, two assists) during that stretch.

Derek Roy picked up a goal and an assist and Jochen Hecht also scored for the Sabres, who have also dropped five of their last seven games. Ryan Miller stopped 35 shots in a valiant losing effort.
