(Sports Network) - A pair of struggling clubs will fight for a win this evening, as the Carolina Hurricanes welcome the Boston Bruins to the RBC Center.

The Hurricanes have lost three straight and five of their last six games, but still came into Saturday tied with Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Carolina was dumped, 4-0, by the rival Lightning on Thursday evening, as Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis each had a goal and an assist to lead Tampa Bay to the road victory. Johan Holmqvist turned aside all 31 shots to record his first career shutout.

John Grahame gave up all four Tampa Bay goals on just 20 shots for the Hurricanes.

Carolina did receive some good news on Thursday, as defenseman Bret Hedican returned from a 12-game absence after undergoing surgery on his left ring finger.

Tonight is the finale of a three-game homestand for the Hurricanes, who are 14-10-3 as the host club this year.

Boston is in worse shape than Carolina, having dropped five straight and 12 of its last 15. The last two losses in the slide came in a home-and-home series with Buffalo.
