(Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins had to wait five games before holding their home opener, the most by any club. All because the circus was in town.

Well, they were finally able to settle into the TD Banknorth Garden on Thursday night, and the result was a 3-2 decision over visiting Calgary. Glen Murray scored twice and Marc Savard added a pair of assists as the Bruins ended a three-game losing streak.

Brad Boyes gave Boston an immediate lead just 18 seconds into the game and Hannu Toivonen stopped 26 shots. Boston managed only its second victory of the season.

Murray tops the team with four goals, and his five points are tied with Boyes, Savard and Zdeno Chara for the club high. Chara leads with five assists, followed up by Savard, the team's other key offseason acquisition, with four.

Boston was without injured winger Marco Sturm, who sat with a left thigh injury. The ailment was sustained at Wednesday's practice when he was hit by a Brad Stuart shot during a drill. Sturm is day-to-day.
