SEATTLE (CP) - Bretton Stamler scored his first career

hat trick as the Seattle Thunderbirds downed the Portland Winter Hawks 5-1 in Western Hockey League action Saturday.

Stamler put away two first-period power play goals and added his third in the third period to score the second hat trick of the season for the Thunderbirds.

Each of his first two goals came on shots from the point that

beat Portland goaltender Kurtis Mucha, both scoring on the glove side.

His third came after a Jeremy Boyer shot, as Stamler crashed the net and knocked in a rebound.

Josh Schappert and David Richard added two goals in the second to put Seattle out to a 4-0 lead before Portland could even get on the board.
