Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Owen Sound Attack forward Bobby Ryan is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 31, 2006. The second overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (Anaheim), Ryan had three goals and five assists for eight points in two games, along with a plus/minus rating of plus-4.
In his first game of the week on Friday, Ryan started the scoring for the Attack and then proceeded to assist on three other Attack goals as Owen Sound defeated Sudbury 6-2 on the road. Ryan was named first star of the game. Ryan's second game of the week was at home on Saturday against the visiting Brampton Battalion. He scored two goals and added two assists as the Attack defeated the Battalion 7-4. Once again Ryan earned the first star of the game honours.
Ryan currently sits seventh in the OHL scoring race with 61 points in 37 games. He is also just 12 points away from surpassing Andrew Brunette (now with the Colorado Avalanched) to become the top scorer in franchise history for the Guelph Plater - Owen Sound Plater - Owen Sound Attack franchise.
