ST. LOUIS (CP) - For the second day in a row, the St. Louis Blues have added a veteran free-agent forward to their roster.

Right-winger Bill Guerin has agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Monday.

''Bill is another Stanley Cup champion who has the ability to bring a combination of speed, skill and offence to our top two forward lines,'' team president John Davidson said in a release. ''He is still a top power forward in the game who thrives on taking the puck to the net.''

The signing comes a day after the Blues acquired centre Doug Weight.

Guerin, 35, has played in 949 NHL games during his 14-year career with New Jersey, Edmonton, Boston and Dallas, recording 663 points (328 goals, 335 assists) along the way.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound forward hoisted the Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995. Guerin has played in three all-star games.

Guerin was originally drafted by New Jersey in the first round (fifth overall) in the 1989 NHL draft.
