St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues announced on Thursday they have exercised the option on forward Keith Tkachuk's contract for the 2006-07 season.
The 34-year-old Tkachuk played in 41 games during St. Louis' recently completed 2005-06 campaign and recorded 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points.
In 897 games with the Blues and the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise, Tkachuk has posted 446 goals, 422 assists and 1,907 penalty minutes. He posted 50-plus goals or more in two seasons.
He was selected by Winnipeg in the first round -- 19th overall -- in the 1990 draft.
The move comes on the same day that the Blues learned they will select first overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in June. St. Louis has never picked first in the draft.
