(Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks will try for just their second winning streak of the season when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center this evening.

The Blackhawks won back-to-back games on October 16 & 18 before dropping eight straight contests. They ended the drought on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

Radim Vrbata's two first period power-play scores provided enough spark to send Chicago to the 3-1 victory over the Blues.

Bryan Smolinski scored his fourth goal of the year, and Jeffrey Hamilton picked up two assists. Sebastien Caron earned the win in his season debut, stopping 24 shots for the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks are currently tied for last place in the Central Division with Columbus and the Blues. All three teams have 11 points.

The Blue Jackets also played on Friday night, but wound up losing a home game to the Edmonton Oilers. Ryan Smyth netted a pair of goals to guide Edmonton past Columbus, 4-1, at Nationwide Arena.
