The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Mark Hartigan to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, team president and general manager Doug MacLean announced Tuesday.

Hartigan, 29, has scored a goal and two assists with two penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in six games with the Blue Jackets this season.

Hartigan was one of the top scorers in the American Hockey League last season, recording 34 goals and 41 assists for 75 points in just 49 games for Syracuse in 2005-06. He scored a goal in 11 straight games at one point, the longest such streak in the AHL in a decade and just three games short of the all-time league record.
