(Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks hope to improve to 4-0-0 under new head coach Denis Savard tonight when they visit the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
The Blackhawks had lost three straight games in the final days of Trent Yawney, but under Savard they have pulled off three-in-a-row for the first time this season. On Saturday, Jeff Hamilton netted his first career hat trick, scoring the game-winner just 59 seconds into overtime, as Chicago bested the Nashville Predators, 4-3, at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.
Hamilton tied the game late in the third before giving Chicago the win in the extra session.
Tony Salmelainen also scored for the Blackhawks, while Nikolai Khabibulin made 25 saves in net. Khabibulin was named one of the NHL's "Three Stars of the Week" on Monday after posting a a 2.00 goals-against average and .925 save percentage in the last three games. The "Bulin Wall" was named the "second star."
