(Sports Network) - There will be no showdown in Denver tonight, as the playoff-bound Calgary Flames visit the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center in the final game of the regular season.

The Flames finally clinched the eighth and final seed in the Western Conference on Saturday evening thanks to Colorado's 4-2 home loss to the Nashville Predators. As it turned out, Calgary would need the Avalanche loss because the Flames were handed a close defeat by lowly Edmonton shortly after Colorado's setback.

Calgary will open the playoffs this week against top-seeded Detroit in the Motor City.

The Avalanche were dealt a crushing 4-2 loss on Saturday, as J.P. Dumont scored twice to help the Predators secure the victory.

Milan Hejduk and Andrew Brunette each scored a goal and Peter Budaj made 28 saves for the Avalanche, who had won four straight to get back into the playoff hunt.
