(Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche have had trouble staying consistent this season and it's something they would like to fix soon before it becomes a habit.

The Avalanche have not lost more than two games in a row this year, but they haven't won more than two straight either. The club is 6-5-2 and tied for third in the Northwest Division -- six points behind first-place Minnesota.

After earning back-to-back wins over the Wild and Columbus, the Avalanche were handed a frustrating loss in St. Louis. Manny Legace stopped 44 shots and Bill Guerin scored two goals to lift the Blues to a 4-1 win at Scottrade Center.
