DENVER (AP) - Brett McLean scored a goal with 27.8 seconds left in regulation then added a shootout goal as the Avs defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-4 in a pre-season game Monday night.

Wojtek Wolski and Paul Stastny also scored shootout goals for the Avs. Jiri Hudler and Jason Williams had goals in the shootout for Detroit.

Colorado goaltender Jose Theodore stopped Mikael Samuelsson's backhanded shot to preserve the win.

Stastny, Brad Richardson and Johnny Boychuk also scored in regulation for Colorado (3-1-0). Williams, Matt Hussey, Niklas Kronvall and Jakub Kindl scored for Detroit (2-1-2).

Richardson and Boychuk scored 15 seconds apart in the third period to put Colorado ahead 3-2. The lead didn't last long. Hussey beat Theodore with a slap shot at 2:57 and Kindl flipped a shot over Theodore's left shoulder at 8:24.
