-- The league recently announced its Players of the Month for January. Oshawa’s John Tavares was OHL Player of the Month, Guelph’s Drew Doughty was Defenseman of the Month, Plymouth’s Michal Neuvirth was named Goalie of the Month and Guelph goalie Thomas McCollum was named Rookie of the Month.

-- London’s Patrick Kane was named the OHL’s NAPA Top Draft Prospect of the Month for January, the second-straight month he has won the award. Kane, the No. 4 ranked North American skater by Central Scouting, leads the OHL with 114 points in 47 games.

-- Belleville goalie Kevin Lalande was named ADT CHL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 4. Lalande had a 3-0-0 record, a 2.67 GAA and a .940 save percentage for the week.

-- Kingston’s Bobby Hughes, property of the Carolina Hurricanes, scored his 100th OHL career goal Feb. 8, against Brampton.

-- London rookie winger Philip McRae joined Team USA for the Four Nations Cup in the Czech Republic. He returns to the OHL club today.

-- After this past weekend’s home win against Barrie, Ottawa is now 8-2-1 against the Colts since 2002. Barrie has not won a game in Ottawa the last three seasons, including one playoff round.

-- Not only did Saginaw break Belleville’s nine-game win streak with this weekend’s convincing 7-0 victory, but the Spirit clinched a playoff berth in the process.
