South Carolina rookie defenseman T.J. McElroy will replace teammate Jamie Fraser on the American Conference All-Star roster. Fraser is currently playing for Bridgeport in the American Hockey League. Meanwhile, Victoria forward Milan Gajic, Fresno goalie Ryan MacDonald and Long Beach forward Brandon Schwartz have been added to the National Conference roster. The trio replaces Idaho forward Francis Wathier (Iowa), Victoria goalie Julien Ellis (Manitoba) and Long Beach’s T.J. Trevelyan (Providence).

The Florida Everblades scored four shorthanded goals in a bizarre 9-7 win over Charlotte last Friday.

Idaho goalie Steve Silverthorn returned from AHL Iowa this week and promptly blanked the Phoenix Roadrunners in a 2-0 victory Monday night.

The Columbia Inferno reeled off an impressive three-game sweep at Texas last weekend. Columbia entered Thursday night’s action with five wins in its last six games.

The ECHL announced that Jason Rollins will be the referee for the All-Star Game, while Wally Lacroix and Mike Pearce will be the linesmen.

Gwinnett’s Brad Schell, who leads the ECHL in assists (46) and points (60), was named the Player of the Month for December. The Gladiators’ forward notched eight goals and 22 assists and had 11 multi-point games.

Reading forward Joe Zappala was named the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for December after tallying 15 points and a plus-7 rating in 14 games. Teammate Shawn Germain was tabbed the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer of the Month. Germain was a plus-12 in 13 contests.

South Carolina Stingrays forward Matt W. Reid was named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week after tallying three goals and six assists in four games.

Rick Kowalsky’s Trenton Titans have won three straight and are just three points behind North Division-leading Cincinnati with four games in hand.
