The Toronto Maple Leafs activated center Nik Antropov and left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky from injured reserve on Tuesday.

Antropov missed 17 games due to an ankle injury. Ponikarovsky had sat out 11 games with a shoulder injury.

Ponikarovsky is fourth on the team with 11 goals. Antropov has five goals and six assists in 18 games.

To make room on the roster, the Maple Leafs assigned right wing Ben Ondrus and center Kris Newbury to Toronto of the American Hockey League.

I'd prefer that they send Belak down rather than Newbury.

Newbury can actually girnd it out against the Lightning donw low and in the corners.

Belak lacks foot speed, and Tampa ain't slow.

Good to see Ponikarovsky back, he should help.

I'm only wondering if Antropov will have enough time to build up his trade value so that the Leafs can finally trade him this season.

I'm with you Be-Leaf and the Belak issue, is there something in his contract that doesn't allow him to be sent down easily?

Either way it's good news to be getting Nik and Ponny back. Both seemed to be turning a corner this season before they got injured (of course I say that every year when it comes to Nik).

At least Ondrus and Newbury got some good big league experience. Hopefully, they'll be able to help the Marlies out and be ready for the next time they get called up.
