Providence Bruins:Individual Tickets On Sale September 30

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced today that individual game tickets for the upcoming 2006-07 regular season will go on sale September 30 at 10:00 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets on the team website at providencebruins.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets (401-331-2211 or 508/617-931-2000).

Individual game tickets begin at just $15 for upper level seats and range to $40 for glass seating. The Bruins begin their three-game pre-season schedule Wednesday, September 27, when they travel to the Boss Arena on the U.R.I. campus to take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The Providence Bruins' home opener for the 2006-07 season is October 13 versus the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Cassivi among seven players assigned Saturday

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS have announced in conjunction with the NHL's Washington Capitals that seven more players have been assigned to the AHL club. Goaltender Frederic Cassivi, left wing Quintin Laing, right wing Eric Fehr, defensemen Lawrence Nycholat and Timo Helbling, center Dave Steckel and defenseman Jamie Hunt all were assigned Saturday morning. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Capitals VP/General Manager George McPhee.

Cassivi comes to camp in Chocolatetown after winning a career-best 34 regular season games in 2005-06. He also won all 16 HERSHEY playoff games en route to the club's ninth Calder Cup championship. Laing comes to HERSHEY for the first time in the Washington organization after spending the last five seasons with Norfolk (AHL), and played in his 300th AHL game for the Admirals last season.

Fehr returns for his second season in a HERSHEY uniform. The Winkler, Manitoba native scored the overtime, game-winning goal in Game 7 last May in the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals against Portland. Nycholat is back in central Pennsylvania for a second consecutive season, after enjoying the ninth best point total by a defenseman in HERSHEY history in 2005-06. He picked up 57 points on 13 goals and 44 assists.

Steckel is back for his second season in HERSHEY as well after an offensive breakout during the 2006 postseason. After scoring 14 goals in 74 games during the regular season, Steckel popped in 10 goals in just 21 games during the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs. Helbling skated for Springfield in 2005-06, scoring seven goals in 60 games. Hunt finished his collegiate career last season for Mercyhurst (AHA), scoring 12 goals 33 games.

The Washington Capitals will face the New Jersey Devils this Sunday at GIANT Center at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911. Washington goaltender Olie Kolzig is expected to face legendary New Jersey backstop Martin Brodeur in the contest. HERSHEY will open its exhibition schedule Monday afternoon in Voorhees, NJ against the Philadelphia Phantoms at 1:00 p.m. before traveling to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The BEARS will play two home exhibition games at GIANT Center next weekend with Norfolk visiting September 30 at 7:00 p.m. and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton coming to call October 1 at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for both games are available by calling (717) 508-BEAR.

Dallas Sends 14 to Iowa

Bulldogs Add Two to Training Camp Roster

The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today the addition of two players to their training camp roster. The Montreal Canadiens have reassigned goaltender Jaroslav Halak to Hamilton, while the Edmonton Oilers have loaned forward Zach Stortini to the Bulldogs.

Halak, 21, played in Montreal$B!G(Bs preseason game at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Friday, September 22nd. The Bratislava, Slovakia native replaced starter Yann Danis with 10:30 left in the second period, and made nine saves on 11 shots. Halak appeared in 13 games with Hamilton last season, posting three shutouts, a record of 7-6-0 with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.

Stortini, a 21-year-old native of Sudbury, Ontario, skated in two preseason games with the Edmonton Oilers last week (September 18th and 21st), recording two shots and 11 penalty minutes. In 2005-2006, Stortini posted 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) and 261 penalty minutes in 57 games with the AHL$B!G(Bs Milwaukee Admirals and Iowa Stars.

The Hamilton Bulldogs opened their 11th annual training camp today at the newly-renovated Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena, located at 25 Hester Street on Hamilton Mountain. Rivermen Double Up Chicago 4-2 in Preseason Home Opener

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen jumpstarted their preseason and the game with two goals in the first 2:38 on Saturday night, holding on for a 4-2 win over the visiting Chicago Wolves in front of 2,926 at Carver Arena.

The Rivermen (1-0) opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the game. Charles Linglet stole the puck in the offensive zone, at top of the right face-off circle, performed a nifty sidestep move and snapped a shot just inside the left post past the Wolves goaltender Dave Caruso.

Peoria quickly made it 2-0 just less than two minutes later. Right wing Konstantin Zakharov gained beat a Chicago defender to the puck behind the net on a waved-off icing, and while facing the boards, he slipped a no-look backhand pass out to the front of the goal for Kevin Croxton, who powered a shot past Caruso at 2:38.

Chicago (0-1) tallied its first goal at 5:18 of the second stanza with the man advantage. Center Jared Ross took a pass at the bottom of the right face-off circle and then fired it to the front of the net for a streaking defenseman Nathan Oystrick, who chipped the puck into the top left corner of the net to cut Peoria's lead in half.

The Rivermen responded quickly to increase their lead to 3-1 at 8:46 of the second. Right wing Rocky Thompson, stationed to the right of the goal, snapped a pass from below the goal line back to defenseman Jeff Mushaluk, who sent a shot on net from the right face-off circle. Center Julian Talbot, who parked in front of the net, tipped the shot and sneaked it past Caruso just inside the right post.

The beginning of the third period resembled that of the first when Linglet again stole the puck, this time at the blue line. He quickly dished it off to right wing Greg Mauldin, who was one-on-one with the new Wolves netminder Dan Turple. Mauldin held the puck until Turple committed and fell to the ice, where he flicked the puck over the right shoulder of Chicago's goalie at 2:10.

The Wolves cut Peoria's lead to 4-2 on the power play at 9:04 of the third. Defenseman Scott Lehman sent a pass to the top of the crease, where a mix of players was stabbing at the puck before right wing Yuri Moscevsky deflected through the five-hole of the Peoria goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu at 9:04 of the third frame.

The Rivermen take on the Chicago Wolves on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills, Ill. On Tuesday, September 26, Peoria hosts the Iowa Stars in a home-and-home set between the clubs. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena.
