Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl apparently is not in good position to become part owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Karl has been willing to have a 10 percent stake in a group led by Ohio businessman Jim Renacci. But the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the highest bidder among four active groups is one led by Connecticut businessman Samuel Fingold, which has bid about $175 million. The paper reported the group soon could be given exclusive negotiating rights over a 30-day period.

The highest bidding group was actually the one that was interested in bringing the NHL team here to Hamilton but they backed off when they found out that if the City of Pittsburgh builds the team the new Arena the new owners (whomever they may be) would have to keep the team there in Pittsburgh.
