Blair Betts is claimed by the Montreal Canadiens.

Brett MacLean was waived by the Phoenix Coyotes and Jeff Woywitka was waived by the Montreal Canadiens. MacLean could be a solid pickup for teams that are looking for young talent that can produce offensively - 22 years old, 6'2, 152 points in 200 AHL games, including 50 points in 51 last year. Maybe the Islanders would be willing to roll the dice on re-uniting him with Tavares?

Jeff Woywitka is claimed by the New York Rangers. Solid depth pick-up with Staal being injured and not much being disclosed about that.

Brett MacLean is claimed by the Winnipeg Jets. The team looks like they're going to struggle to score, so rolling the dice on a youngster like MacLean isn't a bad option.

Eric Nystrom has been placed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild. If a team's looking for a fourth line player that can play on the penalty kill, he would fit the bill. Spent a lot more time on the penalty kill while he was with the Flames than the Wild last year. $1.4M is a pretty significant price-tag for a player like Nystrom though. Maybe a team like Colorado would be interested - could take the pressure of killing penalties off of young players like O'Reilly and Galiardi.
