Former Sharks Broadcaster Drew Remenda To Join HNIC Crew

San Jose Sharks.com
August 15, 2006

Drew Remenda and Scott Morrison are the newest members of the Hockey Night in Canada broadcasting team, CBC Sports announced Monday.

A three-time Emmy award-winning television analyst for the San Jose Sharks, Remenda will join Harry Neale and Greg Millen on CBC's roster of color analysts.

Remenda brings 10 years of NHL broadcasting experience to his new role as analyst.

After beginning his NHL career in 1991, Remenda spent five seasons coaching in the Sharks' organization. He then became a broadcast analyst for the Sharks, beginning with radio before moving to television three years later.

“I’m very excited,” said Remenda. “It is an unbelievable opportunity. The history and tradition is a little daunting. I had the best gig in the world with a team I love, but now I’m a cog in the big wheel of CBC. I’m honored to be joining what some call the NHL’s 31st franchise.”

Remenda fondly remembers his time in San Jose and his broadcasting crew.

“Without San Jose, there is no way I come close to this job,” said Remenda. “Randy (Hahn), Malcolm (Bordelon) and Frank (Albin) spent so much time with me and saw what no one else did. I want to thank them as well as Dan Rusanowsky, Doug Wilson and Greg Jamison.”

The Saskatchewan native also hosts The Drew Remenda Sports Show, which airs on radio stations in Saskatoon and Regina.

"Drew's remarkable knowledge and passion for the game of hockey have established him as a true broadcasting professional," said HNIC executive producer Joel Darling.

"As a former coach, he sees and understands the game on many levels and will provide our viewers with clever insights and analysis."

Morrison joins the popular HNIC team as a commentator and columnist.

A 25-year veteran hockey journalist, Morrison is an upcoming recipient of the 2006 Hockey Hall of Fame's Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award.

His responsibilities will keep hockey fans on top of all of the breaking news each week with reports, columns and blogs on CBC.ca - Sports.

The former Toronto Sun sports editor will also appear on the highly successful Satellite Hotstove segment every Saturday night during the second intermission of Game One of the traditional doubleheaders.

He will make occasional appearances on CBC Radio, CBC Television and CBC Newsworld, reporting on breaking stories from around the NHL.

"Scott Morrison is one of the most intelligent and respected hockey writers in the business, and we are pleased to be able to add him to our lineup of reporters and columnists," said Andrew Lundy, senior producer, CBC Sports Online.

"He brings a wealth of experience and in-depth hockey knowledge to our team and will provide hockey fans with information that is second-to-none."

PLEASE NOTE: This is for the 2005/2006 season, but I'm sure they will stream for the 2006/2007 season as well!!

Comcast, the nation's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, joins the NHL and OLN to make hockey history as the first Internet provider to stream live NHL games over the Internet. Comcast's more than 7.7 million High-Speed Internet customers will be the first and only broadband users to experience hockey action live on their PCs, during the 2005-2006 season.

This exclusive agreement gives Comcast High-Speed Internet customers access to up to two live games daily, for a total of up to 300 throughout the season, up through the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Beginning October 5, users can view the live NHL games in the Sports channel on Comcast.net.

Comcast.net will begin adding new NHL content to its Sports Channel next month:

-- Access to archive of streamed games (for 48 hours after original broadcast)

-- Hockey Live Video Player -- player used to watch live and archived games

-- Hockey Fan(TM) video player -- video clips of game highlights, previews, reviews, and interviews that are easy to watch, search for, and organize

-- Links to OLN television schedule and expert commentary

-- Links to NHL full-season schedule and merchandise

-- NHL Scoreboard

Content will be updated throughout the season, with future enhancements planned. These include: scoreboards, standings, league leaders, a fantasy hockey league, and additional community features. Comcast is making access to these games easy and convenient for all hockey fans -- from the casual viewer to the die-hard fanatic. Comcast subscribers can view the action from their homes or anywhere there is a broadband connection.

Hockey buffs who are out of town and miss their favorite teams will now still be able to enjoy them on Comcast.net. Local blackout restrictions will be in effect for all games.

"With Comcast, hockey fans can experience an entirely new level of their favorite sport," said Greg Butz, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Comcast Online. "We are offering our customers a fast, reliable connection and content they can't get from any other broadband provider -- such as their favorite NHL teams, streamed live and archived for a limited time, for added convenience."

"Streaming live NHL games is a key element to our multi-media deal with Comcast," said Doug Perlman, NHL Senior Vice President of Television and New Media. "Our fans are some of the most passionate and tech savvy in professional sports, and this is another great way for them to connect with the NHL."

The feed will be supplied through the "Hockey Live Video Player," a Comcast-branded Windows Media Player.

Sports enthusiasts can access the Comcast.net Sports Channel by going to http://www.Comcast.net/sports or by clicking "Sports" on the left hand navigation bar on Comcast.net.

I don't have comcast, so I guess I can't watch :(
The internet has nothing to do with your TV cable, it's 2 different things, so you should be able to watch them on the internet. It will cost you though, not sure how much $$$$$
