17 Year Old Hockey Player Dies During A Game
Dec, 27 2006 - 12:10 AM
AM640/TORONTO - It was the beginning of what was supposed to be an action-packed AAA hockey tournament, but the game ended in tragedy Tuesday with the death of a 17-year-old hockey player in Scarborough, Ont.
Alex Corrance, the only child of Mississauga Rebels Midget AAA team manager Alan Corrance, died of a apparent heart attack.
The teen's father had been on the bench at Ice Sports Scarborough when the boy collapsed. He had gone racing out on the ice to help, not realizing the fallen player was his son.
Two trainers quickly raced onto the ice and tried to save his life using a defibrillator, and an RCMP officer and some off-duty firefighters and nurses also joined them, but they were unsuccessful.
