On 12-3-1975 in front of a crowd of only 7,638 at the kemper arena the scouts beat the montreal canadiens by the score of 6-5.in this game Wilf Paiement scored the only hat trick in the 2 year history of the kansas city scouts.the scouts opened the game with 3 first period goals by Robin Burns, Craig Patrick and Wilf Paiement and lead montreal 3-0 after the first period.in the 2nd period montreal scored the first 2 goals by Steve Schutt, Yvon Lambert to cut the scouts lead to 3-2. but Robin Burns put the scouts ahead by the score of 4-2.Yvan Cournoyer made it 4-3 but wilf paiement scored his second goal of the game to put kansas city ahead by the score of 5-3 after 2 periods.Montreal scored 2 goals in the 3rd period by Yvan Lambert his 2nd of the game and also by Jacques Lemaire but Paiement scored his 3rd goal of the game at the 11:59 mark of the 3rd period to give the scouts the 6-5 victory. In goal for kansas city was Dennis Herron and in goal for montreal was Bunny Larocque.
