Question marks continue to swirl around the fate of the 2009-2010 Blues season. Continuing the drive with current vets that might snatch draft picks? Put together some young guns and the vets for an impact player (not too many of those around anymore!). This team remains as vexing as they were under Murray.

On the other hand Payne introduced some stability and pushed some of the right buttons with our young guns like Berglund and Steen and maybe rejuvenated Kariya. Oshie continues to impress and made a reasonable bid to be an olympian.

Growing from within has ups and downs. Last year was an up. I think this year will be a down followed by some shake-ups and a playoff run next year. Look at the Coyotes and Avalanche. The only time a single season makes a team is when they hoist the cup. The odds of doing this are slim to none. Why not unload vets now for the future and go into the offseason with hope for a big FA landing?
