On 10-9-1974 the kansas city scouts hit the ice for the first time in the NHL
for a game at maple leaf gardens vs the maple leafs.the scouts had michele plasse in goal and for the leafs its was doug favell.the leafs scored first in the first period by goals from Lyle Moffat and Ron Ellis.ellis scored his goal on the powerplay.but 56 seconds into the 2nd period history was made when Simon Nolet scored the very first official goal for the kansas city scouts.the game was close for 2 periods but toronto scored 4 goals in the third period by Jim McKenny,Darryl Sittler,defenseman Ian Turnbull and leafs captain Dave Keon.the scouts 2nd and last goal was scored by Lynn Powis.the leafs in front of a crowd of 16,346 at maple leaf gardens beat the scouts by the score of 6-2.
