First of all, if you truely consider this a problem, its a great problem to have.
But to your question, I'm holding pat.
First of all, you could never get back in return what you would be giving up. Future star? Who can tell what a prospect will turn out as.
Both players are turning into generational talents, which you NEVER get rid if at all possible. For the past few seasons, their lines have been considered 1A and 1B, keep it that way. All they can do is make it easier for each other.
Each of them has excelled while having the other teams top defensive players going against them. Now that Geno has turned intor a physical force this season that even they can't contain, imagine what they can do against lesser players.
Staal is very happy where he is, centering a third line that is now producing lots of goals. Sure he could move up, but look at the numbers he's putting up as the checking center. He projects out, due to injuries, at 40 goals FOR A THIRD LINE CENTER!!!
Think of it when Sid DOES come back, you could play three lines centered by Crosby, Malkin and Staal equally and have them at high energy all game. Heck, Double shift Crosby and Malkin at center with the fourth line. Think of the defensive headaches the other team will have.
Nope, I'm keeping them all. They're all happy, rich and have the chance to win the cup year in and year out. Unless they force the issue, I'd do my best to make them Penguins for life.
Cheering on the Penguins since before you were born
