Default Most Disappointing Olympic Players

Just wondering who you guys think hasn't done well during the Olympics. The one mistake by Martin Brodeur sticks in my head, but I don't think that's enough to say he's done terrible.

In before Joe Thornton.

Honestly, I was expecting more out of Martin Havlat. Also, a lot of people were making pretty lofty predictions for Gaborik in terms of scoring at this Olympics, 15 points or something like that, and he's sitting at 3. So he could be disappointing as well.

For Canada it's the vets that should be stepping up but aren't. Pronger and Niedermayer were awful in the US game and we all saw how Brodeur fared. Even though Iginla has some solid totals he was all but invisible during the US game. Sure he lit it up playing Norway and Germany but where was he when they needed him.

Havlat. Getzlaf before today. Nabokov (always thought he was overrated). Kovalchuk.

On a side note, does it both anyone else when players suddenly seem to turn it on in the Olympics? I'm looking at you Demitra.

Stats aren't everything.

With the exception of his game against the Czech, Malkin had a pretty lousy tournament.

Russia was terrible in general. If you lead your team in points with 6 in 4 games, I think you kind of bail yourself out of criticism...especially among your other lousy teammates, even if you didn't always create something every time you touched the puck.

Edit: After last night's exit some must be surprised by Zetterberg and Franzen.

Zetterberg, yes. Franzen, no.

I was expecting much more from Zetterberg. One goal is a pretty pathetic performance. He was good defensively, but Sweden was counting on him to be a key offensive player as well. He didn't deliver.

While it would have been nice to see more from Franzen, I wasn't expecting much from him at all, given the severity of his injury and how he had just come back a few days prior to the Olympics. He improved throughout the Olympics, but he didn't have enough time.

For the amount of ice time they got, Saku Koivu, Jere Lehtinen, and Teemu Selänne were pretty disappointing.

Christian Ehrhoff didn't look like the Canucks version of himself either. Granted, it didn't help that the Germans couldn't score to save their life, but I was expecting him to create more chances out there than he did.

15pts would be me.

Yup his injury didn't help.

Thorton, Crosby, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk is a good start from what I saw.

From my perspective:

Crosby,Ovechkin,Malkin,Kolvachuk, and Thorton.

They did produce offensively but not as it was expected.
